This is a lovely extremely rare and highly collectable Waltham Vanguard high grade pocket watch from 1895. This beautiful timepiece has high quality damaskeening engraving on the plates and 21 jewels in screwed in gold jewel settings. The stem wind movement is engraved Vanguard, WALTHAM, MASS. 21 JEWELS ADJUSTED and numbered 7002340, which dates it to about 1895.

It is a size 18 model 1892 movement, which was one of the best movements made by Waltham. The watch is working, but I do not know when it was last serviced. It is pendant set and pendant wind. The original enamel triple sunk dial is marked American Waltham Watch Co. And is in excellent condition with a couple of tiny chips on the edge of the inner dial by the 16 & 17 marks.

It is a Canadian style dial for use on the Canadian Railways. The open face case is in excellent condition with some light wear. It is fitted with a mineral glass crystal.
