VERY RARE 21 JEWEL 45MM PLATINUM TOP GRADE AGASSIZ GENTS POCKET WATCH, RUNNING! FROM THE ESTATE OF A LOCAL AFFLUENT. AN EXCELLENT CONDITION, TOP GRADE 21 JEWEL "EXTREME THIN" SOLID PLATINUM 45 MM W/ ADJUSTED LEVER ESCAPEMENT. THIS IS A VERY TRANSITIONAL PIECE, DATING TO THE TIMEFRAME WHEN AGASSIZ, WITTNAUER, AND LONGINES WERE MERGING.
IT IS COMPLETE WITH ITS CORRECT SIGNED WITTNAUER & CO CASE ENTIRE TIMEPIECE WEIGHS AN APPRECIABLE 66 GRAMS! Today I have the honor of offering a top grade open face gents' pocket watch which measures 45mm in diameter, Platinum OF original case made by Agassiz, Stemwind, Stemset, Silver & Black Ink Dial signed for Agassiz on the front of the dial with 21 jewel capped lever escapement with very fine compensating balance, full gold timing screws, fine pallet, blued steel HS with isochronal overcoil, fine regulator; movement is also signed for "ADJUSTED EXTRA" making this quite an interesting piece. Strong Running Order and keeping time, good balance motion, good poise, plates show no damage, mint slots & settings, no oxide on bright work, mint winding wheels; dial perfect; fancy hands are mint; original very heavy gauge case shows virtually no wear, lids snap tightly shut but rear needs a hinge repair. Case is with a few MFS; bow is fine and tight, crown shows virtually no wear; perfect glass crystal; a truly great example of a gentlemen's Agassiz Case is not hallmarked but has been XRF and stoned to confirm 90% platinum.
