Extremely rare Mayan figural footed bowl. A very similar example can be found at the Johnson museum of art, at the Cornell University. It depicts five Mayan men with hands in prayer , so possibly a ritual bowl, also the interior of the bowl has incised geometrical designs a well as the bottom of the bowl.
Some sediment residue has been carefully cleaned off by the previous owner. The condition is fine, few scratches. The age of the bowl dates to the Mayan classic period 400 to 850 A.
It originates from the Maya lowlands in the Yucatan peninsula. The similar example at the museum has longer legs and slightly different design, as shown in the pictures.
